I took the last two weeks off from writing to reflect and journey on where to place my focus for my writings for the next few weeks, asking what might be most useful. I was reminded of the power of prayer, meditation and shamanic journeying as ways to become cocreators with Spirit to heal and transform not only our individual lives but the wounds of the collective. For the next few weeks I will be offering shamanic journeys on various themes for divination and personal and collective healing.
Alberto Villoldo recently shared[1] that according to Andean prophecies, the task of humans is to find out who we are becoming 10000 years into the future and bring it back and become that now. We can free ourselves from being bound to repeating the same mistakes from the past over and over again and becoming slaves to the past. The shamans understood that time did not go in one direction only but that it is possible to go back to the past to change things right now by fixing the past and breaking free of the arrow of time. Shamans knew there were multiple dimensions of time, and that when we step into sacred time, we can cocreate with spirit. The future informs us all the time and summons us, through synchronicities, to take a quantum leap into the future. We can also heal the present by selecting a different future. According to the prophecies, the fifth extinction event has been happening for about 10 years—this is an opportunity for us to find a future where humanity can survive and bring it to the present.
Villoldo continues that with ordinary time, evolution is a step-by-step process. Today, evolution follows the laws of quantum physics and is called quantum speciation. Instead of evolution occurring over thousands of years, it happens within generations to create bodies that age and die differently and allows us to taste infinity today. At the level of hummingbird, you are in sacred time, you begin to step into timelessness and the sweetness of drinking only from nectar. Hummingbirds are the great travelers. They go on the great journey and inspire us to take the journey beyond death to master time. Jaguar is the master of the journey beyond death. The jaguar body is the one that steps beyond death into timeless and infinity into the quantum field.
Learning to journey allows our consciousness to travel through space and time through the quantum field. Lowering our breathing allows us to reset our physiology and our vagus nerve that connects our organs to our brain stem. The vagus nerve, also known as the vagal nerves, contains 75% of our parasympathetic nervous system’s nerve fibers. These fibers send information between your brain, heart and digestive system. By resetting our physiology, we are able to step into our luminous form, leaving our physical form behind to journey.
Journeying is one of the practices of the shaman. I have described shamanic journeying in previous posts. Basically, journeying is the inner art of parting the veils between the seen and unseen worlds and traveling into these “invisible worlds” beyond ordinary reality to retrieve information and energies for change in any area of your life—from spirituality and health to work and relationships that can help awaken us and restore us to wholeness.[2]
Recently, I journeyed to the Upper World with the intention to help heal a social wound. In my journey I saw two energy cords flowing through a larger energy field. I then saw a third cord, very slight at first, just starting, rather tenuous but certainly there. It was pulling energy from each of the other two cords and weaving them into this third cord. This cord continued to grow and strengthen. Then suddenly four luminous beings came and picked up the energy from this third cord and rose above the larger field and began dropping it down over this larger space which seemed like the earth. As they did, new life began to emerge, towns and cities, farms and rural areas, forests and rivers. It was like the earth was being populated with new life. It was as if this energy being dropped were seeds of a new world. Then lights began to turn on everywhere. The scene dissolved and I journeyed back into the room and my body.
As I reflected on where this journey took me in response to my intention to journey to heal a social wound, I wondered if this was addressing our current environment of polarities, the splits in us resulting from our various individual and collective wounds. While a shamanic journey can reflect a collective issue or concern, I first take a journey to be a message for me. Where am I split. What are the two energy cords in me that need healed. The journey showed that the solution was to take from each cord, from each polarity and weave something from each together into a third cord, a union of the two. As I reflected further, I discerned that what was being pulled from each side was the good, the truth, the beautiful and what held the highest usefulness. That energy was being woven together into a greater and more sustainable future.
Perhaps then, the message for me is to identify where I am split, where I am polarized and find the good, the true, the beautiful and what is useful in each side and weave those elements together into a new consciousness and then live from that new consciousness, that is, sprinkle it out over the world as the four luminous beings did in my journey. Certainly, the psychotherapist in me knows that we split off our wounded places and often project them out onto others, so the other carries our other split off and unconscious side. The shaman in me knows that we can journey into the past and heal those wounds and we can journey into the future and cocreate with spirit a different future.
It this resonates with you, below is a guided journey for you to heal a social wound.
