Toxic Cords and Cord Cutting

Sometimes we have energy cords that connect us to people, places, situations, past lives and even archetypes. If we suffered a trauma or some abuse, we may be connected energetically to the perpetrator of the abuse forming what psychology calls trauma bonds. We may have an energetic connection to a person who hurt us or to a person we hurt. Energy cords can connect us to places we have an affinity with, such as places where we have lived, places where we suffered some tragedy or accident and even to places where we died in a former life.

Sometimes we are connected to archetypes. The gods and goddesses of old are informing the course of our lives today. From a psychological point of view, we can think of all those Greek and Roman gods and goddesses as psychological forces that influence our lives and even the course of humans and human destiny

Have you ever wondered why you find yourself attracted to the same kind of person or the same circumstances over and over again? There may be a cord connection that has formed a bond that will take you to an incident that occurred in the past in which a particular kind of relationship or happening was installed in your luminous energy field that you now trying to find in the outer world. So, you continue to have your heart broken or be betrayed or be abandoned or be mistreated repeatedly. Or you get financially ahead only to continually have something happen to set you back financially.

These cords are like parasites. They attach themselves to a chakra or to one of your organs. We have diagnostic categories that we don’t know how to treat with western medicine such as chronic fatigue. From the shaman’s point of view these are often accompanied by and even sometimes caused by a toxic cord connecting us to an individual or situation that we had a negative encounter with that continually drain our energies. Energy cords are information superhighways that begin to organize and influence our experience in our lives. They continue to hijack us to create outcomes that are not desirable.

We need to cut all those connections. We also must track their stories. Tracking the stories without cutting the cord only gives us information. We can track the source in therapy and hypnotherapy, in studying our dreams, but without cutting the cord we are only going to get insight and insight by itself is not transformational. From the shamanic point of view, we need to cut the energetic cord. We need to cut the toxic connection. You cannot clean your bathtub if there's water coming into it from a sewer. You have to cut that pipe that is connected to the toxic energy so that you can then go about integrating the lesson that life offered to you.

Cords offer us an opportunity for healing. The shaman begins by cutting the cords, and then they summon their power animals to track what the cord is connected to. Cutting the cord is often not enough. It's the beginning, an essential beginning, and then we have to track the origin and the source, and once we identify the source and witness it, healing occurs. We learn the lesson, so we don't have to keep repeating it. Continue reading to learn more about cords and ways to cut energy cords.
